Message from the Russian Ambassador in Portugal
The CCILR Chamber of Commerce and Industry Luso-Russian was founded in Lisbon on May 9, 2019. It is emblematic that this event took place in the most memorable and significant day for our country - the Victory Day of people of the Soviet Union in the Great Patriotic War. It is equally important that it happened in the year when we celebrate the 240th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Portugal.
The main objectives of the new Chamber, created thanks to the initiative of Portuguese entrepreneurs, include supporting the strengthening and widening of mutually beneficial economic and commercial ties, establishment of constructive dialogue between the financial and business institutions of both countries, as well as the creation of a communication platform between the members of the CCILR.
It is crucial that Chamber's activity is not only limited to work in Russian and Portuguese markets, but as well to promote joint projects in third countries. There is no doubt that Russian companies will have considerable interest in exploring even better markets of African and Latin American Portuguese-speaking countries, while Portuguese businessmen will be able, through Russia, ensure access to the territories of the Eurasian Economic Union.
On the occasion of the creation of the CCILR, the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, the Chairman of the Russian Party of the Joint Committee on Economic and Technical Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Portuguese Republic, Mr. Maxim Oreshkin, sent a letter in which he expressed his confidence that "activity in the field of closer ties between business circles in our countries will become a considerable contribution to achieving the important objectives of increasing economic cooperation in trade and investment between Russia and Portugal".
The Embassy reiterates its full support to
the initiative to create the Chamber, which should become yet another effective
institutional body of fruitful interaction between Moscow and Lisbon.
I wish, newly established the CCILR Chamber of Commerce and Industry Luso-Russian, success, as well as many achievements to its elected President Mr. Bruno Valverde Cota.
Lisbon, October 21, 2019
The Ambassador Mr. Mikhail L. Kamynin
