November 23, 2021 (Tuesday) - The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Luso-Russian (CCILR), Bruno Valverde Cota signed in the auditorium of Quinta Magnolia, a cooperation protocol with the Government of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, represented by the Regional Secretary of Economy, Rui Barreto, also in the presence of the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Portugal, Mikhail L. Kamynin, who honored with his presence signing of this cooperation protocol.
After lunch with members of the regional government, a meeting with the regional tourism secretary, Eduardo Jesus, took place in order to discuss future cooperation in this area.
In his speech, the president of CCILR Chamber of Commerce and Industry Luso-Russian reinforced the importance of this protocol, "in the development of projects in the technological area, through scientific research, in the fishing industry and agriculture, as well as in supporting the internationalization process of the Autonomous Region of Madeira to Russia, assuming it as a gateway to the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union."
The regional secretary of Economy highlights "the increase in commercial relations between the region of Madeira and Russia and reinforces this achievement as an important step to explore also the cultural, scientific and knowledge plans."
The day before, the president of the CCILR was received by the Regional Secretary of Fisheries and the Sea, Teófilo Cunha at the Calheta Mariculture Center where the head of the Center, Carlos Andrade, explained the project since its foundation and the Regional Director of the Sea, Mafalda Freitas, gave an overview of current research projects.
The Russian market with estimated population of around 145 million people, represents a universe of potential consumers of regional products and services, and not only of traditional services and products, but also in the areas of new technologies, information technology and software. During the visit, president of the CCILR also met with CEO of ACIN group, Luís de Sousa.
The archipelago of Madeira is excellent for leisure activities and is highly interesting from touristic point of view, which opens a dimension of "Georeferencing the region within economic and financial areas". The agreement to establish this protocol fosters more conditions for the region of Madeira to attract more investments, with support Invest Madeira.
